Watergate in Berlin is one of the world’s best clubs, and in July the club will celebrate five years of pushing electronic music boundaries with its first ever mix CD, presented by Turkish producer and DJ Onur Özer.
Like London club Fabric, Watergate is a bastion of underground electronic music, and like Fabric, Watergate’s mix CD series will be jointly focused on the music and on the packaging and design.
So expect quality mixes from some of the world’s best DJs in a nice pretty box.
Here’s the pretty artwork for ‘Watergate 01’
Situated on the river Spree, Watergate quickly rose to techno prominence thanks to its top international DJ talent and its famous LED ceiling.
Onur Özer’s relationship with Watergate started with his residency at the infamous Dumb Unit / Vakant parties, and since then he’s become one of the club’s most popular DJs, so he was the inevitable choice for the club’s first CD.
There are some exciting names on the tracklist for ‘Watergate 01’ (due for release July 21st 2008) - as well as his own productions ‘Terpsichorean Echoes’ and ‘Sahara’, Onur Özer has also included tracks from Cassy, Jens Zimmermann and Ralph Sliwinski.
The mix looks to be a selection of deep house, minimal and tech house and also included in the mix is Patrice Bäumel’s ridiculously loud tech house track ‘Roar’ (scheduled for release on Get Physical this summer).
It’s highly likely that the Watergate mix series will become collector’s items and ‘Watergate 01’ should prove to be a benchmark for things to come.
